Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. In it’s early stages it shows few symptoms, it’s painless, and you are not even aware it’s there.
Twice daily brushing and daily flossing are excellent for maintenance between office visits, but a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile require routine care to stay that way.
In keeping with the American Dental Association (ADA), we believe regular preventive dental care and routine visits are essential for keeping your teeth and gums strong and disease free.

One person in the United States dies from oral cancer every hour. Risk factors are smoking, chewing tobacco, and drinking, however 25% of the people who will develop oral cancer have NO predisposing risk factors. Until recently the only method the dentist had for signs of oral cancer were visual. Now there is a new procedure called Identafi™ 3000, an Oral Cancer handheld screening device that can help dentist detect changes in the cells of the mouth, tongue, and tonsils and to get real time results. As part of our annual comprehensive oral screening program, this service is included, at no additional fee ($70 Value), and is easy and painless! Ask how the Identafi™ 3000 oral cancer screening could save your life.
If needed, we also offer a brush biopsy -vs- surgical biopsy. Easy, painless, and definitive...this minimizes tissue discomfort and pathology results are returned within 2 weeks.
Forrest and Forrest is pleased to use state-of-the-art technology and offers Digital X-rays, one of the newest X-ray techniques. This procedure offers less radiation exposure and is viewable instantly. Once the film is taken (similar to the old procedure), the image is sent directly to a computer and the image appears on the screen for the doctor and you to view. With digital X-rays stored in the computer, the computer then allows the doctors to compare your current images as well as previous images. Smaller changes previously undetected can now be caught earlier and be seen in more detail. This process gives the doctors a much clearer image fordiagnosis of any changes or procedures that may need to be addressed.

Dental sealants are a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth - usually the back permanent teeth-- to prevent tooth decay. The sealant quickly bonds into the grooves and depressions of the teeth, forming a protective shield over the enamel of each tooth.
Although thorough brushing and flossing can remove food particles and plaque from smooth surfaces of teeth, they cannot always get into all the nooks and crannies of the back teeth to remove the food and plaque. Sealants protect these vulnerable areas from tooth decay by 'sealing out' plaque and food.
Flouride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It can also reverse early decay. Professional Flouride treatments usually take just a few minutes. The flouride is in the form of a solution, gel or varnish. Typically, it is applied with a cotton swab or brush and you are asked not to eat, drink or rinse for 30 minutes. This way the teeth can absorb the Flouride.
